That is one amazing machine… but it is actually my second XR4Ti. My first was Black with an automatic. It was a 1985 model year. This 1987 was a 5-speed.

Formula One Champion Sir John Young ‘Jackie’ Stewart (nicknamed “The Flying Scot”) helped with the engineering. I have owned a lot of cars, many of them among the most desirable performance cars of our times, like the 1965 and 1968 Chevelle, 1967 and 1968 GTO, a 1972 Camaro, a 1974 Cadillac Eldorado, a 1978 280Z 2+2 Datsun, a 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas along with 15 motorcycles (and counting)!

Although I prefer the drag strip and quarter-mile blasts, on the open roads there was nothing like the XR4Ti until the Audi Quattro redefined the SCCA events with its four-wheel drive.

So one day I am talking to my brother who owned a 1974 260Z Datsun when I owned the 1985 Black XR4Ti. “So, let’s run out over 7-Mile Drive and up State Route 800...

That expression came to me this morning as I sat in silence drinking my coffee. I have a photo hanging on my office wall that tells me:

The space between your ears. Or as I prefer: One’s Vantage Point. Both a philosophy and a movie by the same title starring Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, and Sigourney Weaver.

So, what have you accomplished in the first 22 days of the New Year?
